River Valley Middle School and Nashwaaksis Middle School in co-operation with the Network of Innovative Schools is sponsoring the River Valley Student Video Festival (RVSVF). The aim of the RVSVF is to promote the use of Information and Communications Technology in Canadian schools and to celebrate students’ exploration of creative uses of video.

The festival is open to all Network of Innovative Schools K-12 schools. Videos may be submitted in the following genres: Documentary, Drama, Comedy, Animation/Experimental and Music Video. Prizes will be awarded to winning videos in each of the following age categories: Grades K-5; Grades 6-8; Grades 9-12. Schools are asked to submit 1 video per school in the K-5, 6-8 or 9-12 age categories.

All video entries will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges. Students will benefit from an expert adjudication of their work and the opportunity to view excerpts from prize winning videos which will be made available for web delivery.

The deadline for submitting videos is Thursday, April 17th 2003. Winning videos will be announced via a webcast on May 8, 2003.
